Troy here. I have created this website for anyone who may be suffering from an eating and/or exercise disorder. My mission is to help, support, inform and motivate individuals begin their journey with recovery.
I have struggled with an exercise/eating disorder for the past five years. I am fortunate enough to tell you that I am in recovery and can't believe how much more each day means to me. After doing some motivational speaking, I have realized that the message of recovery needs to be heard.
"There is Hope; There is Healing"
“I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.”
There are a few things you will notice about this website. It has different sections for different aspects of information. There will be pages for Eating Disorder Resources in North Dakota (particularly professional contacts and state help), pages for video and websites that contain family/friend support information, a page for communication/chat forum and pages that contain numbers to access professionals in cases of emergency. You will also find a page with updates on the North Dakota Outreach Center progress in Bismarck. Our goal is to open an out-patient facility in the future.
I would like to point out that this website in NO way, shape or form is to promote the eating disorder lifestyle, nor is it the priority to point out someone that may be secretly suffering. One final note, we will not suggest topics that may be triggering to individuals. You can communicate with others that use the website in your own privacy without hesitation.
Again, this website is merely to provide an avenue for parents/family, those suffering and the general public to promote awareness of eating disorders in our state and allow access to the proper information on such topics. A second positive of this website is the availability of visitors to connect with one another via chat forums; that way individuals can speak with others who may have some of the same struggles; it may be both supportive and reassuring.
A little side-note for possible males that may be looking into this website. Do NOT be embarrassed, ashamed or feel guilty for visiting. Males also struggle with exercise and/or eating disorders just as women do. I encourage everyone to learn or reach out as much as possible.
Lastly, I am available to talk to; but more importantly, the Lord is ALWAYS available.
Listen, learn and grow in Him.
"For with God nothing will be impossible." (Luke 1:37)
Please feel free to email me at any time. I am open to any/all questions and will be there to support you, no matter what. If you need resources, phone numbers or E.D. information; please let me know. As a recovering male with an eating disorder, you can be assured that you will always have a non-judgmental, supportive individual listening.
“We compliment weight loss, monitor our appetites, and mold our bodies to fit some kind of standard. Face it, standards suck. Exercise, fitness and eating disorders won't overcompensate our perceived flaws. Instead, let’s look closer at the size of our hearts, the width of our souls, and the length of our spirits.” - TR
"Find what makes you uncomfortable and do it." - RMH
"You're only as sick as your secrets." - RMH
If I can have all of you do one thing for me, I would sure appreciate it. Please, PLEASE pass this site along to your friends and family. Even if you're not personally suffering, be assured that someone close to you, is. Think about it this way; you could be the catalyst in someone else's recovery!

Please keep checking back to the website periodically for new video, weblink and discussion posts!!!
I have started traveling across North Dakota presenting and doing talks on exercise and eating disorders. If you know a school, organization or community that might be interested in having me speak on a particular issue; please contact me as soon as possible.
The message of recovery needs to be heard!
